Coach Silvey Jeff Silvey will be returning for his fourth year as head coach of the MCS basketball team. The fourth year coach will look to build on the success his team had last year. "We had a good year last year and I hope we can duplicate that success. Our 7th grade team should be pretty solid as we will return all 5 starters from a team that ended up 14-4."   Not sure of what to expect during the first two years, Coach Silvey now has a good idea of the talent level of his returning players, some of the tendencies of his opponents, and better how to expand the basketball knowledge of his student athletes.  The biggest challenge this year will be to get the new players up to speed, while at the same time continuing to expand the talent of his returning players.  Silvey, who resides in Maryville, graduated from SIUE in the spring of 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in finance.  While at SIUE Silvey was an All-Conference performer on the baseball team and was an All-Conference performer in basketball during his high school playing days. Silvey, who is married to MCS teacher Julie, has three daughters, all of which are currently enrolled at MCS.

Coach Moore

Joining Head Coach Jeff Silvey will be Assistant Coach Mike Moore.  Coach Silvey feels blessed to have someone with as much experience and knowledge as Coach Moore.   Mike, who helped lead the Belleville West Lady Maroons to an IHSA state track title in 2009, brings over 12 years of game experience to the bench.  Coach Moore began his basketball coaching with Triad High School in 1984.  At that time he was the Head Freshman and Head JV Girls Coach along with being the assistant to the Varsity team.  During the 1986-1987 year he became the Head Varsity Coach and accumulated over 100 wins during this time span.  He was the head coach until the 1994-1995 campaign when he decided to step down. Moore, who resides in Collinsville, is married to MCS teacher Lori, has three daughters, two of which are currently enrolled at MCS, and two grandsons.
